My Three Words for 2021

As we kick off the new year, one exercise that I enjoy going through is carefully selecting the three words that will be the overarching themes for the year. This is a process that Chris Brogan introduced 15 years ago and that I’ve been consistently doing since 2008. These three words provide the framework for what my goals will be (broken out into select categories once I’ve these three themes). The Day That Changed Our Lives Forever

It was a cloudless day in the Bay Area but it would end with shattering both of my shoulders due to a violent tonic-clonic seizure. I felt as though I was drowning. Each next word I tried to say made it harder to breath. I was paralyzed but could see with my periphery vision and hear her as she dropped everything in came running to my side while screaming for help. It felt like minutes to me but I’m sure it was shorter than that.

Understanding Daily Routines to Increase Productivity

In the past when I would evaluate my schedule in an effort to optimize my time, I would consider only the working hours of the day. For me, pre-pandemic, this has always been roughly between 7:30a-5:30p. During those hours, I time block my calendar, to the best of my abilities, including reading/research time, time to process email, and any other items that I did not have time to accomplish the night before.
