It was the third night in a row of both hitting my sleep goal and not waking up during the night. It was a good way to start off the day.
Though my lower back was still sore, I was surprised that my legs weren’t as sore as they were the previous week from my legs workout. Last week I was still trying to walk regularly until Wednesday or Thursday because of how sore I was.
Our 2016 planning meeting continued through the majority of today, not finishing up until 2:00p. I then had two hours to crush through a mountain of paperwork that has been building up. While I didn’t get it all tackled, I made enough progress to make tomorrow a bit easier.
It was good to spend time with my team over the past couple of days since we are all distributed. We rely on tools such as Slack to help our team stay connected throughout the day but there is nothing like being face-to-face with each other.
Though Tuesdays are usually reserved for shoulders, I wanted to give them a break and get in a cardio and core session.
Instead of rowing 6,000 meters like I have been for the past several weeks, I retested my 2,000 meter row since I hadn’t completed it since the end of October.
I was happy to have shaved off 12 seconds and finishing in under 8 minutes. This was a good midpoint goal to hit but I am still aiming to get down to a 7 minute row.
I was exhausted from the row so I didn’t do any other additional cardio exercises before turning my attention to my core. My core workout was:
- Overhead Weighted Decline Sit-Ups (25 lb plate) - 2 x 15 reps
- Cable Crunches - 3 x 15 reps (100 lbs, 110 lbs, 120 lbs)
- Standing Oblique Crunches - 3 x 15 reps/side (45 lb plate)
I felt great when I finished tonight’s workout and am looking forward to continuing to improve on my 2,000 meter row time.
I had a bit of work to finish up when I came home before relaxing for the evening. As usual, the TV has been tuned to the Food Network which is one of our favorite channels to watch.
