A police helicopter flying overhead made it difficult to fall asleep. Whether it’s the local police or county sheriff’s department, they deploy the helicopter frequently as we hear it regularly.
The 4:45a alarm came quickly this morning especially with waking up a few times with the fear of oversleeping my alarm.
After dropping Adrian off at the airport I climbed back into bed for 30 minutes. Even though I wasn’t able to fall back asleep, resting in the darkness was far better than getting the day underway so early.
While I tried to keep my calendar lighter over the past few days while Adrian was here, today it was right back to normal with seven meetings scheduled throughout the day and a couple impromptu phone calls.
It was good having a fast-paced day because it helped me to not realize how tired I was. Thankfully, even though I had an early start to the day, I was still able to get 6 hours or sleep but it still made me tired.
No matter what, it’s always nice to settle back into a routine, even when it comes after having a lot of fun with a close friend.
When I came home from work I had to deal a bit of urgent work-related stuff before hitting the gym.
Tonight’s workout was a quick but highly effective cardio workout. It was the same workout that I completed last Tuesday with a couple of slight modifications.
- Dynamic warm-up
- 75 jumping jacks
- Cycle - 5 minutes
- 20 burpees
- Elliptical - 1 mile
- 30 crunches
- 10 leg raises
- 30-second plank
I completed the one mile on the elliptical in 6:41, crushing my previous PR set last week by 34 seconds.
With only one mile to worry about I went as hard and as fast as I could even with the resistance boosted to level 5. Last week when I set the PR the resistance was only at 1.
What didn’t seem like a hard workout left me barely walking when I came off of the elliptical because of how hard I pushed myself.
After a busy and fun week while Adrian was here, tonight we have been relaxing. Laura is watching a few shows that she likes while I do a bit of work and reading.
