Day 227: Remembering the Last Time I Performed Box Jumps

I swear that, at times, Sasha and Darren are perfectly preparing us to be parents such as when they do things to wake you up in the middle of the night. 

Darren slept next to me until around 4:00a when he jumped down and did something to Sasha which caused her to yelp, running to the other corner of our bedroom. 

Even though I didn’t get out of bed, I still had to console Sasha for a minute as Darren started walking around crying. Like I said, just like raising children. 

Laura woke up feeling even worse than she did yesterday so I tried to help get her situated before leaving for the office so that she could focus on getting rest. 

My day was filled with 7 back-to-back meetings, leaving me only 15 minutes when I first got into the office, 30 minutes around lunch and 30 minutes before leaving at the end of the day.  

It was a typical Tuesday for me but had some hard points that aren’t fun to deal with but are part of the job at times. 

Even with all of the meetings on my schedule, I was able to fly through a number of tasks that needed to be tackled before I fly out tomorrow for San Diego. I heart productive days.  

I was excited about the Spartan WOD today since it was a different routine that I haven’t seen before: 


Main set 

  • 15 Close Grip Incline Push-ups
  • 3 min, non-stop, Bear Crawl, resting when needed.
  • 15 Box Jumps
  • 1 min, 100’ Backwards Walking Lunge
  • 10 Diamond push-ups

`All levels: 15 minute easy/recovery elliptical session.

Though at first glance it didn’t look like a hard workout to me, by the end of it my body was exhausted. 

During my workout I was thinking about how long it had been since I had last done box jumps because of how hard they were for me today. 

When I really sat down to think about it I realized that the last time I did box jumps was on Sunday, August 10th, the morning before I had my seizures. 

Once I finished my workout I came back home to ice my right ankle for a bit before packing for Social Media Marketing World (#SMMW15) and taking care of a few things around the house. 

I plan on taking an extra day off from working out this week to give my ankles two solid days to fully heal before getting back to it on Friday. 

Tomorrow I’ll be heading into my office for the morning before hopping on a plane for the short trip down to San Diego.
