While I believe that being unstoppable is a choice, using drive to defy conventional wisdom is just as important. When I initially met my neurosurgeon he told me that I would never lift weights again. I decided that I wasn't going to allow my injuries to dictate how I was going to live my life. Fast forward 11 months and I accomplished my first Spartan Race.

It is my firm belief that throughout life every single one of us are presented with moments where we can choose to take the unstoppable route. Throughout your life you need to identify these situations and work through taking the unstoppable decision. Make the changes that are necessary, including working through any fears that you may have. That doesn’t mean making these decisions recklessly, but after weighing the considerations, don’t let something like fear hold you back. As I have found out too many times throughout my life, you never know what tomorrow may hold for you.

Saying "I Love You" One Last Time

We have always heard that we should say “I love you” before saying goodbye to our loved ones, whether that’s on the phone or in-person. The reasoning is that they may be taken away from us in an instance and if were to lose that loved one, at least we were able to express our love for them one final time. While this is just a phrase for many, this became my reality when my mom passed away during my senior year of high school, just 5 months after losing my dad.

My Three Words for 2015

Many people are making New Year’s resolutions that will, unfortunately, fall by the wayside as soon as life picks back up to full speed. I don’t set resolutions at the start of each year. Instead I set a number of achievable and push goals, each with a next action associated with them. Along with setting achievable and push goals, for the last several years I have used Chris Brogan's three words framework that help guide the year. My three words for 2015 are: Determined, Invest and Challenge.
